How do you stop tire kickers before a franchise rep calls?
You stop tire kickers with the form and a routing rule, not with a faster rep. Ask about capital, timing, territory and role on the form, grade every enquiry Qualified, Nurture or Disqualified within 15 minutes, and only send Qualified leads to a rep's calendar. Disqualified leads get a polite automated close, not a call.
Why do tire kickers reach my reps in the first place?
Because the form lets them. A name, email and phone field tells you nothing about whether someone can buy, so every enquiry looks the same and gets the same call.
Ad platforms make it worse. By default they optimise for the cheapest form fill, so they find more people who fill in forms, not more people who sign.
What should the form ask before anyone gets a call?
Five questions do most of the work. Keep the wording plain and the answers as choices, not free text.
- Liquid capital: ranges that match your real investment level
- Timing: when they want to open
- Territory: where, so you can check it is open
- Role: owner-operator or investor
- Funding source: savings, loan, partner or not sure yet
Who grades the lead, and how fast?
Write the standard down. Your development lead owns it: what makes a lead Qualified, what makes it Nurture, what makes it Disqualified. The CRM applies it the moment the form lands, and a person checks edge cases within 15 minutes.
Rewrite the standard every quarter against the people who actually signed. If your signed franchisees all had more capital than your Qualified line, move the line.
What happens to Disqualified leads?
They get a respectful automated reply that explains the requirements and where to learn more. No call, no sequence of chasing emails.
Mark the reason in the CRM. Over a month, the reasons tell you which ads and which hooks are attracting the wrong people, so you can fix the source instead of the symptom.
Form-to-grade routing rule
| Grade | Typical answers | What happens next | Owner |
|---|---|---|---|
| Qualified | Capital meets your minimum, opening within 12 months, open territory | Rep calls within the first hour; lead sent back to Meta and Google as a qualified event | Development rep |
| Nurture | Capital close, timing over 12 months or funding unclear | Email and remarketing sequence; reassess on a set date | Marketing |
| Disqualified | Capital well below minimum, closed territory or job-seeker answers | Automated close with requirements; reason code logged; no call | CRM rule |
| Check | Answers contradict each other or look fake | Human review within 15 minutes, then one of the three grades | Development lead |
Set the thresholds from your own investment range and your signed franchisees, not from this example.
