5 Mistakes Costing You Franchise Sales

Ivan Janku

The five leaks

Where franchise sales leak out

We fix all five before we spend a dollar on ads. If you only fix one this month, make it number two: grading leads changes what your sales team does all day.

01

Paying for work that never ships

What it looks like

  • A website rebuild paid for and never launched
  • A CRM set up that nobody can use
  • Lead tracking that was promised and is missing
  • The retainer still going out every month

What it costs you

You can't recruit properly without the pieces you already paid for, and you pay again to have someone else build them.

The fix

Put every deliverable and its date in writing, and have it built in accounts you own. If it isn't delivered and working, you shouldn't pay for it. That's what our Get Shit Done Guarantee covers.

02

Buying leads that never sign

What it looks like

  • Lots of inquiries, very few discovery calls
  • Forms that ask name, email and phone and nothing else
  • No grade on any lead before it reaches sales

What it costs you

Every lead costs the same whether the person has the capital or not, and the ads learn to bring you more of the cheap ones.

The fix

Ask about capital, territory and timeline on the form. Grade every lead Qualified, Nurture or Disqualified by your own rules, and send only Qualified back to Meta and Google as the conversion. How: franchise lead grading.

Source: Franchise Recruitment Study 2026: 38% of franchise inquiry forms (76 of 199) never ask if the candidate has the money to invest (finding F0.1).

03

Letting reps chase tyre-kickers

What it looks like

  • Sales calendars full of first calls that go nowhere
  • Qualified candidates waiting days for a call back
  • No-shows nobody tracks

What it costs you

Your most expensive people spend their week qualifying instead of selling, and the buyers who could sign go cold, or sign with someone else.

The fix

Qualify before the call, not on it. Route Qualified leads to sales first and call them the same working day. See how fast to call a franchise candidate.

04

Managing every vendor yourself

What it looks like

  • A web agency, an ads freelancer, a copywriter and a CRM developer
  • Each one waiting on you for approval or a brief
  • Nobody owning the whole funnel when leads go bad

What it costs you

You end up running a marketing department instead of a franchise system, and every gap between vendors leaks candidates.

The fix

One team for the website, tracking, CRM and ads, one weekly report, and decisions brought to you only when they need you. That's how we work.

05

Not knowing what sells your franchises

What it looks like

  • Meta and Google each claim the credit
  • The CRM can't say which ad the last signing came from
  • Next quarter's budget is a guess

What it costs you

You can't scale what works or cut what doesn't, so spend follows whoever has the loudest dashboard.

The fix

Track from click to signed agreement: your own franchise pixel, the ad source kept on every lead, and a server-side signal back to the platforms. Then report cost per signed franchise. See cost per signed franchisee.

I guess what we're trying to say is: book the damn call.
