Check your area3. Who this suits
This suits you if you want to do hands-on field work, write clear reports, and build relationships with local agents and lenders.
This isn't the right fit if you're looking for an investment someone else runs. Northfield owners run the business and inspect in year one.
4. Your first year
What you'll do in year one
A typical full day is two inspections plus the reports. You write each report in our software and send it the same day or next business day. Jobs often need to fit a buyer's contract deadline, so expect some short-notice changes and some Saturday work. Most work comes from agents and lenders you get to know locally.
5. What we provide, what you do
6. The investment
Total estimated initial investment: $95,000 to $140,000. At least $70,000 needs to come from your own cash or savings, not loans or home equity. The full breakdown is in our disclosure document, which your rep sends during the process.
7. Owner interview
Not recorded. Do not publish this section.
Placeholder only. Becomes: a real owner's clip or written excerpt, name, territory, period described, and the one question it answers.
8. How the process works
What happens after you ask
- A rep reviews your answers and contacts you.
- First call (about 30 minutes): your questions, the role, your area.
- A deeper conversation about funding and your territory.
- You receive our disclosure document, and your rep explains how long you'll have to review it before anything is signed or paid.
- You talk to current owners, on your own.
- Discovery day with our team.
- Both sides decide.
9. Questions
Do I need inspection experience? No. Training covers inspection methods and reports. You do need the license your state requires before you inspect.
Can I hire inspectors straight away? Not in year one, unless our Development Director approves an exception for you. Already running a team in a related trade is worth telling us on the form, but it isn't approval on its own, and the other requirements still apply. A rep will talk it through.
Can I pick a territory that isn't listed? Tell us where you'd like to operate. If it isn't open, your rep will say so and suggest open alternatives.
10. Form
